unbelievable! one of my coworkers was so nice this morning and bought me a cake for my birthday tomorrow. he put it in the fridge in the breakroom and said i can enjoy it whenever i feel like it. after a day of running around, i finally get a chance to sit down and decided it was time for the cake. i open the fridge and it is empty! someone took the cake! wtf??? the box even had my coworker's name on it! what kind of a-hole would do such a thing?! people are just so rude these days!
gosh it took me the longest time to figure out how to post this video. and i couldn't even figure it out w/o ivy's help. i'm ashamed as an eecs girl =/
but now for your viewing pleasure, crazy fun in SF. i was in a prime location to tape the whole thing watch for ling in the bright yellow helmet!
hair experimentation on my first day in shanghai, i did my usual routine of going to the salon to get a hair trim and manicure. on a whim, i decided to get a perm. i was thinking how at the end of "my sassy girl", she had curly hair and it looked pretty cute. after the perm, the hair dude styled it and it didn't look too bad. the next day, i woke up and wow, my head exploded now its more like carrie on "sex and the city". so on my 2nd day of having curly hair, i went to another hair salon to get a hair treatment cuz i felt my hair was kind of dry from the perm. now this dude blew dry big curls and i liked that look so i had big soft curls for about 2 days. the next time i washed my hair, it was back to the small curls, and again i ended up with big hair. not good a week later, i went to the salon again. this time he cut more layers on the top of my head so it wasn't so pouffy on top and it looked a little better. i've been so used to the no-fuss no-muss, wake-up-and-ready-to-go straight hair all my life. now that i have curly hair, it was up to me to deal with it in the morning to make it look good. however, i was too lazy to do it everyday so it didn't look too good most of the time at the end of my trip, i decided i couldn't deal with the curly look no more and straight permed my old hair back. before the 2nd perm, the salon guy warned me that i'm supposed to wait at least a month between perms or else it is extremely bad for my hair. but i didn't have time since i only had 3 more days left in shanghai. thus i went for the perm. while he was applying the perm solution to my hair, he said that i was taking a very big risk and that my hair could potentially break off during the process, he kept pulling at my hair to check the elasticity. usually, the perm solution is supposed to set in for awhile but after about 5 minutes, he said my hair probably couldn't take it anymore and the solution needs to be washed off right away. when he was telling me all this, i was imagining that after washing out the solution, my hair was going to all fall out luckily, it did not and i still have a full head of (straight) hair. so in the end, i subjected my hair to harsh perm chemicals twice and went to 3 different salons a total of 4 times for no reason at all because i look exactly the same as i did 2.5 weeks ago. girls and their hair, so fickle aren't they? well, i've learned my lesson. no more perms for me. next time i want to play with my hair, i'm going for the curling iron. in the meantime, i need to really take care of my hair now. everytime i shampoo my hair, i'm supposed to apply some hair treatment thing beforehand to replenish the moisture. poor hair =T
